Where To Find Foilboard Products In South East Queensland
When it comes to sourcing the best materials for your new or existing home, then Foilboard insulation products are often at the forefront of renovators minds.
Along with absorbing noise, insulation is a crucial component in regulating the temperature in your home, office or commercial space. When you don't have sufficient insulation, there's nothing to keep the warm OR cool air inside where it belongs. Not only does this drive up your power bills, but you run the real risk of always being uncomfortable in your own space. As a result, insulation is something that you don’t want to skip over or settle for a less than reputable supplier - so where do you start?
The Foilboard Insulation Story
When it comes to sourcing reputable insulation products within Australia, Foilboard Insulation has long been regarded as a homegrown hero. With one of the nation’s widest distribution and sales coverage networks, Foilboard Insulation provides energy efficient and acoustic solutions to residential, commercial, industrial markets, and everything else in between.
While they manufacture and distribute a wide range of insulation products specially designed for thermal and acoustic systems, exactly how did this brand secure it’s status as one of the best in the insulation business?
Designed, tested and manufactured in Australia for over thirty years, Foilboard Insulation was founded by industry legend Laurie Moylan. While the Moylan family had already been heavily involved in the Australian insulation industry since 1974, the game changed significantly once insulation became compulsory across the nation in the early 1990’s. Existing insulation products were heavy and bulky, and Laurie spotted room for improvement - and a window of opportunity.
Partnering years of on the ground experience with technical research, Laurie pioneered a new slimline rigid insulation panel that featured reflective foil on both sides. His invention of a new manufacturing system enabled him to introduce a more modern insulation panel that was better suited to Australian homes and businesses - one that could laminate thin reflective pure aluminium directly onto both sides of a polystyrene panel, and an ink which could be used as anti-glare on one side.
The slimline nature of the new era of insulation panels meant that they could be installed with ease, and created two reflective air spaces in the walls. This significantly increased the thermal efficiency of the system and in turn, the building.
Today, Foilboard products have become a regular and preferred insulation material for walls, ceilings and underfloors. Thirty years on, and Laurie is still just as hands-on with the business as Managing Director. As the President of the Australian Cellulose Insulation Manufacturers Association (ACIMA) and technical representative of the Insulation Standards Committee, he’s still just as passionate as ever about saving Aussies time, money, space, and ultimately energy.
