Plasterboard Delivery in Brisbane and Southeast Queensland: What to Expect

Coverage areas, lead times, access tips, and what happens on delivery day when you order plasterboard across SEQ.

Plasterboard Delivery in Brisbane and Southeast Queensland: What to Expect

Getting plasterboard on-site in the right quantities, at the right time, matters. A late delivery holds up your plasterers. Sheets arriving at the wrong spot on a tight residential block can cost you half a morning. This post covers what delivery typically looks like when you order from a local SEQ supplier, which suburbs we cover, and what you can do on your end to keep the day moving.

Coverage Areas

Bayside Plasterboard supplies builders and tradies across Brisbane and Southeast Queensland. Our delivery runs cover most of the metro area and reach well into the surrounding regions.

Brisbane CBD and Inner Suburbs

We deliver into central Brisbane and the inner ring, including Fortitude Valley, South Brisbane, West End, Paddington, and Kelvin Grove. Inner-city jobs often involve tight street access, body corporate rules for loading zones, and stairwell constraints on multi-unit projects. The more detail you can give us about your site before delivery day, the smoother it goes.

Northside: North Lakes, Strathpine, Redcliffe, Caboolture

We run regular deliveries north through the Moreton Bay corridor. The outer growth corridors around North Lakes, Mango Hill, and Caboolture are active with new residential builds. If your site is in a new estate where roads are still going in, flag that when you order so we can plan the approach.

Southside and Redlands: Capalaba, Cleveland, Wynnum, Woolloongabba

The Capalaba and Redlands corridor is core territory for us. We supply jobs through Cleveland, Victoria Point, Wynnum, and across to Woolloongabba. Older suburbs like Wynnum and Manly have narrow residential streets and power line clearance issues that can affect crane truck access, so give us a heads-up if your site is in a heritage-listed or older streetscape.

Gold Coast and Logan

We extend south through Logan and into the Gold Coast for larger orders. Lead times to these areas may be slightly longer depending on scheduling, so allow extra time when you book.

Plasterboard sheets stacked on a building site

What Delivery Day Actually Looks Like

Standard plasterboard sheets come in 1200 x 2400 mm and 1200 x 3000 mm sizes. Both are manageable with the right equipment, but their length means access routes need to be clear. A 3.0 m sheet cannot turn a tight corner in a narrow hallway and it cannot be hand-carried through a stacked unit block without planning.

When the truck arrives, the driver needs either someone on-site to direct the drop or a pre-arranged and clearly marked drop location. If the site is unattended and there is no clear drop point, the driver may not be able to leave the delivery safely, and a re-delivery fee will apply.

For single-storey homes, delivery is typically to the garage, carport, or a flat area alongside the slab. For two-storey or multi-unit jobs, let us know at the time of ordering. Floor-by-floor placement is possible on some jobs but depends on the site configuration, the crane or hoist setup, and what has been arranged in advance. Do not assume upper-floor placement is included unless you have confirmed it.

The driver cannot leave product in a position that blocks a public footpath, neighbours' driveways, or fire access routes. If your site has any of those constraints, sort it before the truck arrives.

How Far Ahead Should You Order?

For a standard SEQ residential build, ordering two to four business days ahead gives you a good buffer. That window allows us to confirm stock, schedule a run in your area, and give you a reliable delivery window rather than a vague all-day guess.

Rush deliveries happen, but they depend on truck availability and route proximity. If your plasterer is starting Monday morning and you are ordering Friday afternoon, there is no guarantee we can make it work. Ordering early is not about bureaucracy. It is about not being the reason your subcontractor is standing around waiting.

For larger projects with multiple deliveries, a staged order plan works best. Talk to us about your frame-up schedule and we can map out delivery dates that match your build sequence rather than dumping everything on-site at once.

Site Access Tips to Avoid Delays

Most delivery issues come down to access. Here is a practical checklist to run through before your delivery window:

  1. Measure the entry point. Can a truck with a loaded flatbed or crane tray pull in off the street? Check clearance for overhanging trees, power lines, and gate frames. A standard delivery truck needs at least 3.5 m of vertical clearance and enough turning radius to exit safely.
  2. Clear the drop zone. Move other materials, scaffolding base plates, and any parked vehicles out of the area where sheets will be placed. The driver cannot wait while you reorganise the site.
  3. Have someone on-site or leave written instructions. An empty site with no note and no drop point is a wasted run. If you cannot be there, text or call us before the delivery window to confirm the arrangement.
  4. Flag tight streets in advance. Narrow residential streets in older suburbs, cul-de-sacs with parked cars, and estate roads under construction can all create problems for large vehicles. Tell us when you book so we can plan the right vehicle size or arrival time.
  5. Check your permit conditions. Some Brisbane City Council and local government areas require permits for vehicles standing on the road to unload. If your site is in a busy street or a council-restricted zone, check whether you need a permit before delivery day.
